• *About The Role**

As a Human Resources Experience & Engagement Specialist at the Barber National Institute, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the employee experience across our organization. Serving as a trusted advisor to leaders and HR partners, you will focus on strengthening staff engagement through inclusive practices, team member relations guidance, and proactive organizational support. This position requires a strategic and thoughtful HR professional capable of exercising sound judgment, analyzing workplace trends, and empowering leaders to address team member concerns confidently and consistently. Your efforts will help foster a workplace culture where employees feel safe, valued, and connected to the organization’s mission and purpose. The role offers a flexible remote/hybrid working schedule, with collaboration across our Erie, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia campuses. Candidates from fully remote locations are also encouraged to apply.
• *Qualifications**
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in employee relations, team member relations, employee experience, or HR advisory roles
• Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or similar HR credential (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
• FBI clearance for non-PA residents
• Ability to travel occasionally to BNI campuses and community events, with flexibility for evening and weekend hours as needed
• *Responsibilities**
• Advise organizational leaders on team member relations matters by assessing situations, clarifying policies, and recommending corrective or preventive actions
• Guide leaders on documentation standards, follow-through procedures, and risk mitigation strategies
• Provide consultative support on performance management, workplace conflict resolution, and early risk identification
• Facilitate listening sessions, inclusion conversations, and leadership discussions to promote psychological safety and respectful team dynamics
• Analyze workforce data to identify systemic themes impacting engagement, retention, and compliance
• Develop and present written findings and actionable recommendations to leadership
• Create and refine conversation guides, toolkits, and resources to enhance leadership effectiveness and accountability
• Support strategic initiatives related to employee experience and engagement through process improvements and SOP updates
• Interpret employment law principles to guide leaders on appropriate actions and documentation
• Model collaboration, transparent communication, adaptability, ethical judgment, and confidentiality in all interactions
• Ensure regulatory compliance and complete required clearances and professional development activities
• Promote a culture of trust, accountability, and engagement aligned with BNI’s mission and core commitments
