Human Resources Apprentice (Human Resources Assistant)

The Texas Workforce Commission is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Human Resources team as an HR Apprentice (HR Assistant). As an HR Apprentice, you will get trained, get paid and get certified in human resources in the HR apprentice program at the Texas Workforce Commission in Austin. This apprenticeship is a collaboration between TWC and the Society of Human Resources Foundation and is approved by the Department of Labor.

The selected candidate will work from our headquarters just north of the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin (101 E. 15th St., Austin, TX 78778).

This is a great job for someone at the beginning of their HR career. The HR Apprentice will be part of the HR customer care team, assisting TWC employees across the state. You will be on the front-line of HR requests, helping and providing workable solutions to our customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Provide administrative support for a variety of HR functions.
• Assist with onboarding new employees and ensuring a seamless transition into agency culture.
• Answer inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate HR records and databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
• Be a confidential and trustworthy resource, handling sensitive employee information with the utmost discretion and in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of HR processes and systems.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
• Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries submitted through ticketing systems or email.
• Enter, update, and retrieve employee data in HR systems.
• Assist with onboarding new hires, providing guidance and support to new employees during their initial weeks.
• Be an integral part of projects that impact delivery of HR services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:
• Six months experience in any of the following: human resources administrative work, technical assistance work, clerical administration and procedures, or business management practices such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records, and reports.
• Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
